Wembley Stadium

We were contracted to carry out BMS support for Engie FM at Wembley Stadium as their BMS Support Manager. Our responsibilities include managing the day-to-day BMS servicing, scheduling, and monitoring. Additionally, we provide Event Control duties, assisting in the event control room during event days. This involves responding to issues such as lighting requests, temperature adjustments, and general FM calls during events like football matches and concerts.

Initially, we set up the lighting and HVAC schedules for event days and ensure all systems are operational without any issues. These pre-checks are conducted two days prior to every event, and repairs are performed if any BMS issues arise before the event takes place.

Our role also includes managing a migration project carried out by Chartwell Controls. This project involves migrating from Honeywell controllers to Trend controllers. We ensure that each segment of the program is executed effectively, validating existing plant equipment to address any remedial actions required before the migration of an MCC panel begins. Points lists are generated from the existing Honeywell controllers, and using the existing Des of Ops, the new Trend software is designed. Modifications are made to enhance energy efficiency compared to the current system.

This role is more FM-driven than a typical BMS role. However, leveraging my skills, knowledge, and years of experience in BMS controls software design, the objective is to carry out the migration project with as few problems as possible. To achieve this, I constantly monitor the progress of the project and liaise with Honeywell, Chartwell, and the FA’s FM project team. Ensuring effective communication is critical to identifying and addressing any potential issues that may arise.
